Michael Jackson Death After Cardiac Arrest

Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) Died after a cardiac arrest June 25th at 12:21 PM after he got rushed to the UCLA Medical Center. He first fell into a coma, and died shortly after that. Physicians from the hospital tried to revive him, but he never did.
He was proclaimed dead by the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.

Michael Joseph Jackson, 50 was one of the most influential entertainers of his era, he had an unique way to charm his audience. His music, lyrics and dance moves like the Robot and the Moonwalk gave him the name of "King of Pop". Gaining him a lot of popularity.

His career got shadowed after the accusations of sexual abuse on a minor. The case was of 13 year old boy named Jordan Chandler. He accused Jackson of touching his penis, and performing oral sex. Authorities started a search of Jackson's Neverland ranch despite Jordan Chandler's mother testimony saying that Michael Jackson was innocent. The family's boy started a lawsuit against Jackson, though he offer a financial settlement. He also got multiple lawsuits from his ex-employees.
Jackson blamed the media for biasing information.
Jackson had one son with Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie Presley after they got married. This marriage was considered a publicity stunt. After they divorced, Michael married a nurse and had two other kids with her.

He was famous for his white glove he always wore in his shows, and his multiple plastic surgeries in his face throughout the years. It was said the he used to sleep in a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber to slow the aging process. Rumor he later denied in an interview with Oprah in her show. Getting the higher ranking for a non-sport TV show ever. He also denied many rumors saying about Jackson changing the color of his skin to white. He said he had a skin condition named Vitiligio which is a dermatological disorder that causes depigmentation in patches of the skin.

But the sad story is that he was supposed to do a comeback tour in London in July 13th, just two weeks away from the show where VIP tickets were selling for $15.000. A lot of people were disappointed and sad to the news of his passing. People was expecting to see a great concert, and now they wont ever have a chance to see the King of Pop performing.

I grew up listening to Michael Jackson's music and watched his movies, I really like him, and it was sad how his life was being deteriorated by stress due to so many lawsuits and health problems.

Rest In Peace Michael Jackson, you will be always remembered.

Girl Got Tattoed In The Face

Can you imaging going to a place to get a nice and cool tattoo, and then get something you didn't ask for? This happen to Kimberley Vlaeminck, 18, a Belgian teenage girl who went to a tattoo shop to get a little tattoo done in the face (three little stars to be precise near the eye) She fell asleep during the process, she woke up and ended up with fifty six stars all over the face.
But Tattoo artist claims that "She never fell asleep and she got exactly what she had ordered"

The tattoo artist claims that the problem started when her dad walked and saw what was done in her face. We don't know who to believe, as far as I know, tattoos are painful, and there is no way someone can fall asleep during the process, I mean, it could have happened, but is hard to believe. Now she has to live the rest of her life with those tattoos in the face.

Don't get me wrong, I like the way some tattoos look, specially if they are made by professionals. Tattoos are very artistic. The have been present since ancient times. Pretty much every major civilization had made use of this artistic form of expression, whether to distinguish social status, or to distinguish different cultures and tribes.

This cultural boom began to expand in the 1960's, when fine artists started expressing through this ancient art.

Che Guevara's Grand Daughter Poses for PETA

Che Guevara's grand daughter Lydia Guevara posed for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and is the new face for PETA in a campaign called "The Vegetarian Revolution" this set of pictures is said to be due in October.

Che Guevara was an Argentinian Marxist revolutionary and politician and guerrilla leader born June 14, 1928 – October 9, 1967. Che Guevara died in Bolivia leading his guerrilla. According to his biographer Jon Lee Anderson Che was wounded twice and said "Do not shoot! I am Che Guevara and worth more to you alive than dead". He became an icon often used by revolutionaries in the world. He got immortalized with his death, if he were still alive he would not have had such fame. You can see his famous portrait everywhere from t-shirts to huge walls and ads on different cities in the world.
He joined Fidel Castro in the 26th of July movement in Cuba.

The Most Interesting Man in the World

The "Most Interesting Man in the World" is a Dos Equis campaign where this mysterious and sophisticated man gives advice on different subjects. Always ends with his famous quote "Stay Thirsty My Friends".

"He has been known to cure narcolepsy, just by walking into the room"
"You can see his charisma from space"
"His organ donation card, also lists his beard"
Among others.

I think Chuck Norris would not be able to beat his awesomeness.
My favorite advice he gives is: "Find out what it is in life that you don't do well, and then don't do that thing"

But little is known from the actor that plays this interesting character. His name is Jonathan Goldsmith born Jonathan Lippe, a TV actor from the 80's and 90's. He made roles in famous series like Knight Rider, Magnum P.I, A-Team, McGyver, Chips, Charlies Angels among many others.

He is currently playing the role of "The Most Interesting Man in the World" in the famous Dos Equis ad. He currently has a Facebook page where he is recruiting a personal assistant to the most interesting man in the world. (I applied, and I am still waiting for reply, I'd do it anytime). So if you have a Facebook account, you should check it out.

Page One Restaurant Review

Location:- Page One Restaurant

The Experience:

Page One Restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of Glen Cove. If you've never been to Glen Cove, its a beautiful town that feels like home. We were immediately greeted when we walked in. Chef Jeaninie came over and introduced herself, which I think is great because she doesn't just stay behind the scenes, she walks around the restaurant to say "Hi" and see how everyone is doing. I think that adds on to the reasons why people come back, because they are treated so well at Page One.

The Food:

We decided to get the sampler for our appetizer because that the best way to see what Page One is all about. My first impression was the beautiful plating. It wasn't just food put on a plate and served, which I'm not bashing if its good food, but Chef Jeanine illustrates that she is a culinary artist. The server was nice enough to take the time to point out which appetizer was which. I absolutely loved the Firecracker Wonton Shrimp Martini and the Floribbean Coconut Crusted Shrimp. As for our entrees, we tried Southwestern Catfish, the Spring Rack of Lamb, and the Onion Crusted Chicken. I loved the black bean chili and the avocado salsa that accompanied the catfish. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. What I like about Chef Jeanine's menu is that the dishes vary in the type on cuisine. For example, Cuban Style Roast Pork, Roast Hawaiian Duck, Thai Seared Salmon Ponzu, Greek Lamb Souvlaki, and etc.

Unfortunately, we ran out of room for dessert. That might have to be another blog because I definitely have to go back for the Firecracker Wonton Shrimp Martini and the Floribbean Coconut Crusted Shrimp.

Prices: $$ Appetizers are all under $10

Entrees range from $16.95- 27.95

Other features:
Live Music on Sundays from 6-9pm.

Beautiful banquet room

Prix Fixe

My sole complaint about this restaurant, is that the name on the restaurant need to be bigger, so that it isn't overlooked.

PETA wishes Obama hadn't swatted that fly

Update: PETA which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals would've prefer Obama to have compassion for the fly he swatted during the interview for CNBC, claiming it was inhumane to have swatted that fly, stating that even the smallest of the animals, no matter their condition deserve to live and I agree with that, but that fly was just annoying.

Photoshop Gone Wrong

This is one of the best examples of ads made with Photoshop gone wrong. In this picture the model is missing one part of her right leg. So, it makes me wonder, how can the Photoshop artists miss such details and not revising it before publishing it? Were they making the touch ups on the fly? Either way, is not acceptable. Photoshop is a wonderful tool, but if used incorrectly, it could cause disasters.
These artist should be punished, but at the same time rewarded because these images are fun to watch.

If you want to see more visit this site, I had fun visiting it.
Have fun with the videos.

The Reality of Anti Personal Mines.

I know this might not concern you, or you might never be affected by this flagellum, but I wanted to talk about Anti Personal mines, so you are aware of this situation and learn a little bit.
Anti Personal mines are a reality in some countries like Afghanistan, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Chechnya, Cambodia, Colombia.

These Anti Personal mines are planted by terrorist groups in certain areas. These mines don't distinguish between people who have nothing to do with the conflict and people that is involved.
In Latin America, Colombia is the only country where these mines are still being used, by guerrillas such as FARC which in English would be (Armed and Revolutionary Forces of Colombia) and ELN (Army of National Liberation). Gaining Colombia the number one place affected by Anti Personal mines in the world.
The sad thing is when innocent people like farmers and kids step on them, causing the mines to explode making them lose their limbs, and in the worst of the cases their lives. Also, soldiers are victims of Anti Personal mines. It is estimated that about a %20 of victims are civilians, being %14 kids under the ages of 15.
Each day, in the world three people steps on a mine.

Nowadays there are groups world wide who fight to eradicate, these Anti Personal mines. Colombian singer Juanes is one of the main exponents dedicated to help this cause.
To join the Facebook group of Anti Personal mines click here and make a difference.
This short video shows an explosion of an Anti Personal mine.

So, go figure, and think, how bad this is, we must stop it. (The guy in the video says "Nice", but, trust me, is not).

Liz's Food Reviews- Barefoot Peddler

Location:

Barefoot Peddler

37 Glen Cove Rd, Greenvale, NY
Click here to find directions through Google Maps

Experience:

I've become a Sunday regular at the Barefoot Peddler. It has a friendly atmosphere, it is a great spot to bring the family for dinner or sit down at the bar after work with a friend. They have by far the best wings I have ever tasted. Also as an added bonus the wings are .25 cents on Sundays all day and Monday after 5pm. Now these wings aren't your average size wings, these are BIG wings and the sauce is Phenomenal.

The service at the bar is great, they have an awesome Sunday bartender and the manager is very friendly, he always makes conversation with my friends and I. So instead of spending your Sunday dreading going back to work on Monday, enjoy your day and stop by the Barefoot Peddler and have some wings!

Prices: $$ Pricey, but the specials make it worthwhile. Check it out.

North Korean Labor Camps

North Korean Conflict

It is incredible how in this modern world, some countries like North Korea still have labor camps, it should be a thing of the past.

The most recent incident of two American journalist Laura Ling and Euna Lee, brought this reality back to the world; a reality that always has been there, but has been forgotten until now. The world is watching every single step North Korea is taking towards the two journalists that unfortunately were captured trying to get into North Korea and are being accused as spies and were condemned for 12 years doing hard labor in a North Korean camp where they would be subject to starvation, extreme weather conditions, torture and public humiliation.

In my opinion, the North Korean government is doing this to provoke a conflict with the United States and the world by defying everybody through these actions, increasing the tension in the world who is watching and wondering about what would happen next? Will the North Korean communist government have clemency and release the two American journalists? or will keep it's decision and make them prisoners?

Lets hope, for the sake of the world, to avoid any conflict that might lead to another war. I don't want to sound pessimist, but we must be prepared to expect the worst, but hope for the best.
This site will give an explanation about the way prisoners suffer in labor camps.

Liz's Food Reviews- Yogurt & Such

Yogurt & Such Cafe.

Location:
1 Glen Cove Rd, Greenvale, NY

Find it here.

Experience:

My name is Liz and if you know anything about me, its that I love food. I don't just eat to eat, I eat to enjoy my food and you should too, so the next time you are in the LI area be sure to try out one of my favorite locations and you won't regret it!

I discovered Yogurt & Such about a year and a half ago with one of my old roommates, and I quickly became addicted to their yogurt. It tastes just like ice cream which I absolutely LOVE, but frozen yogurt is healthier. They offer about eight flavors for you to combine and "twist" to your liking, in addition they offer a ton of toppings!

My recommendation: Creamy Peanut Butter twisted with Cookies and Cream with their new sugar free hot fudge!

Prices:$$ Pricey, a little too high for frozen yogurt but still a must try.

Breaking News!

News update:

The media was informed that actor David Carradine was found naked and hanging in his hotel room in Thailand. He apparently died of auto-erotic asphyxiation that went wrong, and was not a suicide. According to his family, David Carradine did not suicidal tendencies.
Auto-erotic asphyxiation occurs when the person intentionally cuts the oxygen off the brain to increase sexual stimulation leading to an intense orgasm. They usually hang themselves to achieve maximum pleasure, this practice is dangerous and yet not recommended, but people still practice it. Thailand authorities are still investigating.

It is Tetris 25th anniversary!

Tetris is one of the most played video games in history, since it's creation in June 6th 1984, by Russian computer engineer Alexey Pajitnov. Tetris has been incorporated in every single video game console as well as PC and MAC. It became a hit when Nintendo added Tetris to the Game Boy. And nowadays is on every single hand held device as well as cell phones.

Tetris has been sold world wide and has reached a record of about 70 million copies.
The game itself is simple, but complicated. The word Tetris comes from the Greek numerical prefix Tetra which means every piece of the puzzle is made of four pieces. In this game, the player is doomed to loose, the game keeps getting faster and faster, and there is not even distribution of the pieces, due to an algorithm that sends S and Z tetrominoes, which means that too many S tetrominoes leave a hole in one side of the field, and too many Z tetrominoes leave a hole on the opposite side, making the game difficult to play and forcing the player to leave or the field to fill with pieces of the puzzle. Despite the difficulty, Tetris is very interesting and provides a good challenge to anybody, and I am pretty sure this game will continue to rock through times.

This web site will explain the history of Tetris through this years since it's creation.

I leave you with a video of Tetris game play on a Nintendo Game Boy with a score of 999.999 points. The music is awesome, it comes from a Russian folk tune called Korobeiniki, which increases the tempo with the time, it became very popular for the Nintendo Game Boy.

Tetris will continue to captivate the hearts of video gamers for generations to come.
I can not finish this post without including a link to play the original Tetris for Game Boy from 1989. Enjoy.

China blocks twitter and other social networks.

Users in China tried to access twitter, Flicker and Bing, but realized these sites got blocked by China's government. Before the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen square massacre. This is because networks like twitter allow it's users freedom of speech, apparently that goes against the interest of China's government.

Missing plane!

A jet from Air France flight 447 departed Sunday from Rio de Janeiro to Paris-Charles de Gaulle, the plane went missing with 228 passengers, eight of them were crew members.
There are many hypothesis regarding this incident, some people say the jet went through a thunder storm, being hit by a lightning strike. But it is too early to tell which reason caused the plane to disappear.

The plane lost contact with air traffic controllers near the coastal Brazilian city of Natal through the Atlantic Ocean.
Right now authorities are searching the area for the plane and hopefully they find survivors, it is a race against the clock.

Air France issued a statement regarding this incident.

Microsoft launched Bing!

Bing is a new search engine created by Microsoft which launched today in an effort to take on rivals like Google and Yahoo search engines. www.bing.com displays a different background image every day.

Bing has pretty much the same options as rivals, with the addition of popular news displayed on the bottom of the page.
One of the new features is called Bing cashback, where people gets money back from eligible purchases made through the site giving you the choice to purchase from PayPal.

Move the mouse over the background image and you will find relevant information and links related to the background.
The page layout for pictures and videos looks simple but good. The page for news looks innovative and informative.

Only time will tell if Microsoft's Bing will be a success and a great competitor for Google and Yahoo!
